Yangtze University Hosts The 4th International Young Scholars Forum

On March 29th, The 4th International Young Scholars Forum commenced in the enthusiastic speech of Wang Jianping, Secretary of the Party Committee of Yangtze University‌, on the East Campus. In his address, he emphasized: “A developing Yangtze embraces all talents; an ascending Yangtze thirsts for excellence; an innovative Yangtze pioneers a promising tomorrow”. More than 140 young scholars from universities and scientific research institutions at home and abroad discussed the cutting-edge disciplines and sought common development for the future.

Fu Qianwu, Deputy Director of the Organization Department of the CPC Jingzhou Municipal Committee, along with heads of relevant functional departments and deans of schools, attended the forum. The event was presided over by Vice President Lv Yibing, Standing Committee Member of the CPC Committee of Yangtze University, with live streaming via Yangtze Universitys WeChat Video Channel and official Douyin account.

Wang Jianping extended a warm welcome to attending young scholars in his opening address. He comprehensively outlined the implementation outcomes of the universitys talent-driven development strategies, detailing institutional strengths across academic disciplines, teaching and research platforms, and global partnerships. Highlighting systemic reforms, he emphasized the innovative talent management framework, optimized evaluation mechanisms, and enhanced professional ecosystem cultivated through policy support. He cordially invites outstanding young scholars to join Yangtze University and pursue their academic aspirations at Yangtze University, working collectively to compose a new chapter in building a high-level, distinctive university, where they can achieve remarkable personal and professional growth in this transformative journey.

Fu Qianwu elaborated on the developmental achievements of Jingzhou City in recent years from the aspects of culture, history, transportation, economy, and cultural tourism. Highlighting systemic policy support, he specified that Jingzhou has introduced dedicated green channels for Yangtze Universitys talent recruitment, including housing purchase subsidies and prioritized access to talent-oriented residences. Fu emphasized that Jingzhou sincerely invites young talents to to settle in Jingzhou and to leverage the expansive platform offered by Yangtze University, which would help them pioneer innovations and achieve professional growth.

Prof. Yang Dong, Deputy Director of the Department of Energy; Prof. Yu Bo, Dean of the School of Petroleum Engineering; Prof. Zhang Xuekun, Director of the Department of Agricultural Sciences; and Prof. Xiao Taoli, Dean of the School of Urban Construction, delivered thematic academic presentations focusing on national strategic imperatives. They systematically elaborated on disciplinary frameworks, innovative practices, and transformative achievements in energy security, low-carbon technologies, food security, and intelligent manufacturing.

Yang Wenxing, Director of the Human Resources Department at Yangtze University, detailed the six-tiered talent recruitment categories under the Yangtze University Scholars initiative, highlighting policy strengths including competitive compensation salary, multi-dimensional professional support mechanisms, and comprehensive living support systems. The presentation underscored the universitys sincere commitment to talent cultivation.

Prof. Li Qing from the School of Petroleum Engineering, Dr. Zhao Chenchen from the School of Agriculture, and Dr. Zhou Xinxing from the School of Economics and Management, representing newly recruited talents, shared their integration journeys at Yangtze University. Yangtze University prioritizes talent cultivation with institutional care, stated Prof. Li Qing. The Party Committee Secretary and President of the University introduced the concept of Getting familiar with Yangtze University, encouraging young scholars to actively propose reforms if institutional mismatches emerge during their acclimatization. Dr. Zhao Chenchen commended the universitys robust research platforms and professional development opportunities, while Dr. Zhou Xinxing applauded its holistic ecosystem integrating academic pursuits with life quality assurance.

The main forum concluded with a chorus of the Yangtze University Anthem by all attendees.

In the afternoon, the university hosted an overseas talent workshop, where human resources leadership engaged scholars on policies for international recruitment, talent program applications with targeted cultivation strategies, and pathways to overcome academic development bottlenecks. Discipline-specific sessions were organized by respective schools, facilitating in-depth exchanges through academic presentations, recruitment evaluations, and laboratory tours.

It is reported that since initiating the talent forum series, the university has seen annual growth in talents participant numbers. In 2024 alone, 108 multi-tiered talents were introduced, including 9 high-level recruits such as 4 recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars.
