The School of Humanities and New Media traces its origins to the Normal Education Division of the Fourth District Simplified Normal School of Hubei Province, established in 1936. As one of the oldest schools at Yangtze University, it has accumulated over 80 years of rich educational experience and profound cultural heritage.
Faculty and Academic Excellence
The school boasts a well-structured and highly qualified faculty team. Among its full-time teachers, there are 36 professors and associate professors, 32 with doctoral degrees, and 29 postgraduate supervisors. Additionally, 5 faculty members are recognized as university-level academic leaders, 3 as academic backbone members, and 2 are included in the university’s "Yangtze Talent" program.
Disciplines and Programs
The school focuses on two provincial key disciplines: Chinese History and Chinese Language and Literature, both of which offer first-level master’s degree programs. It also grants professional master’s degrees in Subject Teaching (Chinese)and Subject Teaching (History).
At the undergraduate level, the school offers five programs:

It also houses the Yangtze University Chu Culture Research Institute, which incorporates three provincial-level research platforms: the Jingchu Culture Research Center, **Hubei Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Center, and Hubei Regional History and Culture Research Center.

Over the past five years, the school has published the influential *Jingchu Culture Research Series* and secured 65 research projects, including National Social Science Fund projects. The school emphasizes comprehensive education and practical skills. In recent years, over 90% of undergraduates have passed the CET-4, and the employment rate remains high. Students have published 160+ literary and academic works and won 218 national and provincial awards, including a third prize in the "Challenge Cup" National Academic Competition.
