  In order to accelerate the construction of "Double First-Class", Yangtze University decided to merge the School of Economics and the School of Management and officially changed its name to the “School of Economics and Management, Yangtze University” in June 2019. The School of Economics was formed in January 2004 from the former School of Humanities and Economics, Jianghan Petroleum Institute, and the former Department of Agricultural Economics and Management of Hubei Agricultural College. The School of Management was formed from the original Jianghan Petroleum School in January 2004. The Department of Agricultural Economics and Management, Hubei Agricultural College, and the Department of Economics and Management, Jingzhou Normal University were established.

  The School of Economics and Management has five teaching units including the Department of Economics and Finance, the Department of Management, the Department of Agricultural Economics, the Department of Commerce and Trade, and the Department of Accounting. It offers three first-level discipline master's programs i.e., Applied Economics, Agriculture & Forestry Economics Management, and Business Administration. It offers 03 Master's Degree program majors in Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Accounting (MPAcc), and Master of Agricultural Extension and 12 Undergraduate Degree program majors in Economics, Finance, International Economics and Trade, Agriculture & Forestry Economics Management, Information Management and Information Systems, Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Public Utilities Management, Logistics Management. It has 4 provincial key discipline research institutes i.e., Yangtze River Economic Belt Development Research Institute, Hubei Rural Development Research Center, Hubei Yangtze River Economic Belt Regional Development Research Center, Hubei Rural Economic Development Research Association. It has 3 university-level key discipline institutes i.e., Yangtze University Jianghan Plain Rural Economic Research Institute, Yangtze University Petroleum Economics and Management Research Center, and Yangtze University Enterprise High-Quality Development Research Center. It has a provincial practice Teaching Demonstration Center i.e., Economic Management Experimental Teaching Center.

  The school has more than 140 faculty members, including 108 full-time teachers including 20 professors, 57 associate professors, 5 doctoral supervisors, and 43 master supervisors. The faculty has 45 doctoral degree teachers and one National outstanding teacher. There are one Rainbow Scholar, two Distinguished Professors, and 39 external teachers. There are more than 4,000 undergraduate students, more than 600 postgraduate students, and dozens of international students from different countries.

  The college adheres to the fundamental task of building morality and cultivating people and is committed to improve the students' innovative spirit, entrepreneurial ability, and comprehensive quality. It provides continuously deepening education and teaching reform, actively promoting the construction of first-class majors and first-class courses, constantly innovating talent training models, and continuously improving teaching conditions. It Improves talent training capabilities comprehensively. In the past three years, the college has successively been approved as one national first-class undergraduate major construction site (i.e., logistics management major), two provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites (i.e., accounting and finance major); one provincial first-class undergraduate course has been approved. It has 15 provincial and ministerial-level teaching and research projects; participated in the compilation of 1 key textbook of horse engineering; won the first, second, and third prizes for teaching achievements in Hubei Province. There are 12 projects, including 2 at the national level. Moreover, more than 400 people have won prizes in provincial and above discipline competitions. The postgraduate entrance examination and employment rate have continued to stabilize at over 10% and over 96%.

  The school adheres to the concept of disciplinary innovation and actively participates in scientific research. It has achieved a large number of influential scientific research results in related disciplines and professional fields and has condensed a number of advantageous research directions. In the past three years, the teachers of the college have published 446 academic papers, of which 89 have been included in SCI, CSSCI, etc. and published 40 textbooks and monographs, and obtained 14 utility model and invention patents. Provincial (ministerial) level scientific research projects and 41 scientific research projects entrusted by the government, enterprises, and institutions.

  The college adheres to an open and cooperative school-running model. It has maintained close contact and exchanges with Wuhan University, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Huazhong Agricultural University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Wuhan University of Technology, and other universities. It has established long-term school-enterprise cooperation with CNPC, Sinopec, China Mobile, and other enterprises relation. Actively adapting to the trend of internationalization of higher education, actively carrying out international academic exchanges and cooperation, a total of 17 teachers have been sent to universities in the United States, Canada, Australia, and other countries for visiting studies, and 32 teachers have been selected to participate in various international academic conferences. Experts and scholars from foreign universities such as Kyushu University in Japan, Arkansas University of Science and Technology in the United States, Australian National University, and the University of Illinois in the United States have been invited to give lectures in the college. Actively promote international education cooperation projects, and constantly explore the training mode of international elite talents.
