Founded in 1983, School of Urban Construction is a national “Innovative Experimental Area for Training Mode of Practical Personnel in Civil Engineering”. After nearly 40 years of construction and development, School of Urban Construction has become an important talent training and scientific research base in the national civil engineering and construction industry.

The School has a complete range of disciplines, with 5 undergraduate programs: Civil Engineering, Water Supply and Drainage Engineering, Intelligent Construction Engineering, Architecture Engineering (5-year program), Urban and Rural Planning Engineering (5-year program).Two first-level Discipline Master Programs: Civil Engineering and Architecture, covering 9 second-level disciplines: Structural engineering, Underground Space Engineering, Municipal Engineering, Bridge and Tunnel Engineering, Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Engineering and Protection Engineering, Heating and Gas Supply, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning and Design, and Project Management. One Professional Master Degree Program: Civil and Hydraulic Engineering. Civil Engineering is a Provincial Key Discipline. Civil Engineering is a National First-class Undergraduate Program, and it is a Brand Major of Hubei Province. It has passed the Evaluation and Certification of Civil Engineering twice in 2014 and 2017. Architecture Engineering, Urban and Rural Planning Engineering, Water Supply and Drainage Engineering are among the First-class Undergraduate Majors of Hubei Province. Water Supply and Drainage Engineering has passed the Evaluation and Certification of Water Supply and Drainage Engineering in 2021. At present, it has more than 2200 students in the school.
